Insurance |
Many private insurances provide coverage for acupuncture, but it depends on the health insurance policy negotiated by you or your insurance comapany. PIP personal injury coverage does pay. We do call your insurance company and verify your acupuncture benefits.
Patients may pay out of pocket for the services rendered and may receive a refund if there is coverage under your plan.We offer submition of the claim to your insurance company to receive reimbursement for you. We do the work for you via an insurance specialist. This helps us to focus on your wellness and leaves the filing to the insurance expert.
If you do not have benefits for acupuncture, we will work with you to develop a treatment plan that fits within your budget.
Does health insurance cover acupuncture?
Some insurance plans do not cover acupuncture yet. However, many policies are beginning to include acupuncture because of its cost effectiveness as a treatment and because consumers have shown a willingness to pay for it out of pocket. The web site www.acupuncture.com includes a list of insurers that cover acupuncture, many of which are on the west coast.
In some cases injuries sustained while on the job or in a motor vehicle accident usually are covered for acupuncture care under workers compensation or automobile insurance policies. A bill currently under consideration in Congress provides for covered acupuncture care for seniors under Medicare.
Acupuncture Health Insurance
There are many ways to treat all kinds of ailments. Some are more common and accepted by the medical community while some are less traditional. Some medical insurance policies will not cover alternative options, such as acupuncture. However, for those who find these to be important alternatives, there are policies for you.
Alternative Health Policies
An increasing number of insurance companies and managed-care organizations are covering complementary and alternative medicine, fueled by consumer demand and a growing body of scientific evidence demonstrating the benefits and cost-effectiveness.
A recent survey of 18 major HMOs and insurance providers, including Aetna, Medicare, Prudential, and Kaiser Permanente, found that 14 of them covered at least 11 of 34 alternative therapies. Chiropractic, massage therapy and acupuncture are the three most-covered therapies followed by naturopathic medicine. Other therapies that are increasingly being included are herbal remedies, homeopathy, mind-body stress management, and meditation.
Not matter what coverage you elect to purchase, be sure that you understand the specifics of your policy. Be sure to ask your customer service rep any questions you might have in regards to your coverage. They should be able to answer all your questions and if they can't it's time to find a new provider.
